Meet Best Selling Author K.A. Moll

Hello again, everyone!

I hope no one burned out their retina’s staring at the eclipse yesterday, because I am excitedka to bring you a little Q & A with Best Selling Lesbian fiction/romance author K.A. Moll. If you’ve never picked up one of her books, I highly recommend them. I have thoroughly enjoyed “Soul Mates,” “Change of Heart” and her new foray into thrillers writing as Cade Brogan, “Close Enough to Touch.”

While I prefer romances (because I’m a sap like that), I do enjoy a good thriller and “Close Enough to Touch” did not disappoint. She writes with heart and I get sucked in each and every time regardless of the genre.

So, without further ado, let’s meet K.A.

How did you get started writing?

My first memory of a lengthy writing project was a short story that I wrote for fun when I was in fourth grade. Ahhh, “The Backyard Massacre,” a thriller set in my backyard, I remember it fondly. As I look back, that story marks the point when I knew that someday, even if not as my career, I would write. As it turned out, I majored in psychology as an undergrad, sending me on a path toward social work and mental health. But my electives were always in the language arts, so much so that when I graduated, I had a minor in the subject. My desire to write fiction lay dormant during the next couple decades while I locked in my pension. But once I did, I was off to do what I loved—to write lesfic.

As I write my eighth novel, I find that I love doing what I do, more today than yesterday or the day before.

What do you like most about writing?

I think what I like most about writing is that I get to create characters who find love, overcome obstacles, and live in a world where lesbians are just normal folks.

Have you written, or considered writing, anything besides lesfic?

No. I can’t imagine writing a story where the protagonist wasn’t a lesbian. If I tried, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t make it past chapter one.

Why do you enjoy writing lesfic?

In addition to what I said above, I guess it’s because lesfic stories are the only ones I have to tell.

How did your latest novel, “Close Enough to Touch,” come about?

I wanted to write a thriller, a thriller that didn’t end with rainbows and unicorns. As KA, I tend to write those stories, stories that end up warm and fuzzy. With my publisher’s input, I decided to write this one under the new pen, Cade Brogan, wanting to prevent my readership from buying it on autopilot, and then being surprised. I think it turned out pretty well.

Do you do anything different when writing as Cade Brogan vs KA Moll? Like write in another room? Wear a hat…

No, not really…Other than I have to shake myself into her character’s POV and stay there until the book is finished. Usually, I think about my next book as I write, but I can’t do that when I’m alternating between Cade and KA. I wish I could, but I can’t.

What’s your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy bio-tech thrillers and contemporary romance.

What books are you reading now, or are on your to-read list?

I tend to read between books. I read Lisa Gardner’s, “Right Behind You” before starting my WIP.

If you were a character in a book, what genre would you want it to be?

A bio-tech thriller

What’s your favorite character you’ve written so far?

Since Amelia in “For A Moment’s Indiscretion,” I’ve found that I love writing villains. My favorite is Joanna in my new release, “Close Enough to Touch.”

If you could have any actress play that character in a movie, who would it be? Jennifer Beals 🙂

What’s next?

I’m working on a sequel to my all-time bestseller, “Change of Heart.” It’ll be out this Fall.

Thank you to K.A./Cade for taking the time to share a bit about herself. If you’re looking for a new read, you won’t be disappointed in either of her selections.
